Editorial 3/2025

Dear readers and colleagues,

We are pleased to present the latest issue of our journal, which once again focuses on the latest trends and innovations in a field that is constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible. This issue brings you a wide range of procedures performed in our field. You will find articles on hand surgery, burn medicine, aesthetic surgery, reconstructive procedures in the head and neck area with a focus on oncology, congenital defects in the population, and replantation surgery. This wide spectrum of diseases, syndromes, and disorders represents only a part of what our field, often underestimated, encompasses.

Plastic surgery is not a field, but rather a discipline that combines science and art, precision and empathy. It is not just about aesthetics, as is often mistakenly believed, but above all about restoration, reconstruction, and returning a full life to those whom fate has not favored. It is a field where skill meets human stories and where hope becomes reality.

We focus on innovative techniques that help our patients not only overcome illness, but also return to normal life with a sense of wholeness.

We strive to ensure that the information in our magazine is clear, verified, and useful to both professionals in the field and those who are interested in the field for personal reasons.

We hope that this issue will not only inform you, but also inspire and encourage you to think more deeply about the mission of plastic surgery. Let us not forget that there is a person behind every procedure.

In addition to reading professional literature, attending conferences and symposia is an integral part of any doctor’s life. Thus, I would like to invite you to one of these events: the meeting of the European Federation of Societies for Microsurgery (EFSM26) will be held in Prague from June 14 to 17, 2026. We wish you pleasant and inspiring reading.

With respect and best wishes,

Tomáš Kempný
