Dear colleagues,
It is a privilege to address you as President of the Czech Society of Plastic Surgery. Our Society has always been committed to excellence in education, scientific progress, and the highest standards of patient care. These values have shaped generations of plastic surgeons and remain the cornerstone of our specialty.
Plastic surgery is one of the most demanding surgical disciplines. It requires years of structured training, extensive operative experience, and continuous professional development. Whether in reconstructive or aesthetic surgery, every procedure requires not only technical expertise but also sound clinical judgment and a deep sense of responsibility towards our patients.
Today, we are increasingly witnessing physicians without formal training in plastic surgery performing procedures that require specialist education and experience. Too often, financial motivation appears to outweigh professional responsibility. As a result, plastic surgeons are faced with an increasing number of complications requiring complex corrective surgery. These situations not only harm patients but may also damage the reputation of our specialty.
This is precisely why the role of the Czech Society of Plastic Surgery is more important than ever. The Executive Committee is fully committed to maintaining the highest standards of specialist education, training, certification, and continuing professional development. Our goal is to preserve the quality, continuity, and consistency of plastic surgery as a recognized surgical specialty.
Our journal plays an essential role in this mission. It is one of the key platforms for sharing scientific knowledge, clinical experience, and new surgical techniques, while helping to educate both current and future generations of plastic surgeons.
I would like every member of our Society to know that the Executive Committee is working actively to protect the future of our specialty. Together, we will continue to support high-quality education, promote scientific excellence, and, above all, ensure the highest level of care and safety for our patients.
